Blender Export and Trainz Import Software

Once you have completed your model in Blender you have to export it from

Blender and import it into Trainz. This requires two additional pieces of (free)

software:

• export_trainz_v0.96  (current version as of July 2015) found here.

• TrainzImporterTS12.zip (current version as of July 2015) found here.

Install Blender Exporter

Note:

These instructions are found here.

I include them here so you don’t have to go digging.

Download the export_trainz_v0.96.

• Open Blender.

• In the Information Viewport under the File Menu select

User Preferences… .

Select Add-Ons panel and press button Install from file... down

at the panel button bar.

Locate and select the downloaded export_trainz_v0.96 file.

Click Install from File… in the upper right-hand corner.

• Under Category on the right, click on Users, locate the

Export-Import: Trainz Exporter add-on and make sure it is activated

(the box beside the little man to the right is checked).

• To keep the TRAINZ Exporter active when you reopen Blender, click

Save as Default in the lower left-hand corner.

• You can now close the User Preferences Panel and Blender.

Install TrainzImporterTS12

Note:

These instructions are found here.

I include them here so you don’t have to go digging (and, hopefully,

simplified them a bit).

Download the TrainzMeshImporter.exe zip archive. Click on the

archive to extract the file folder.

• Before using the exporter you must copy the TrainzMeshExporter.exe to

the same location as the Blender Exporter add-on:

C:Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\

Blender\2.59\scripts\addons\

• Check to see that you can navigate to this folder.

• If you get to your user folder and don’t see the AppData folder, that is

because it is hidden. You will need to make it visible as follows:

• To make AppData visible:

> Open your Windows Control Panels.

> Locate Folder Options.

> Open Folder Options and check Show hidden files, folders

and drives.

> Click OK.

> Navigate to:

C:Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Blender  Foundation\

Blender\2.75\scripts\addons\

> Copy TrainsImporterTS12.exe file to the folder.
